Lizards in Chitwan Annapurna Landscape

Spatial distribution pattern of lizards in central Himalayan elevation gradient is rarely been investigated and existed information are also very old and outdated literatures. This proposed study will be carried out by visual encounter survey and will examine the patterns of species richness, abundance, and range size of lizards and also test the effect of climatic and disturbance factors on lizard diversity with emphasis on the mid-domain effect. The mechanisms underlying diversity patterns across elevation gradients will provide invaluable and necessary information for the formulation of conservation priority for lizards in the central Himalaya. Furthermore, this study will also add and update the species of lizards using morphometric taxonomic approaches.
